Foreword

This is similar to a lot of castle defence games but it still has its own unique stuff that enjoyed while playing. I found it easier to play than most too which was something i enjoyed.

Gameplay

Well the idea is the same as castle defence and that is don't let the attackers, in this case zombies, reach the end. In most you flick the guys away with your finger and you end up with some serious finer cramp by the end. While some may enjoy this I do not so much. But then zombie assault isn't like that. Instead you must set off a number of traps to kill the zombies. This is done by simply tapping the trap. The traps vary from TNT to flamethrower, electric pad to trap door bridge, a falling block to a spring board. All these kill in various ways but the end result is the same. You live to fight more zombies.

Another difference is there are three tracks for zombies to walk along, This is necessary really when there is no flicking needed. On the closest and furthest paths there are 4 traps and on the middle one there is only 3. You have to be ready and vigilant to make the tap to stop the oncoming zombies. Another thing that is different and that i like is that one zombie reaching the end, ends the game. This makes it more frantic and exciting for me. I have to quickly tap that last flamethrower or the game will end.

In terms of scorekeeping you have your high score, average score, total score and number of games. This is good but a nice addition would be online leaderboards to compare yourself to others. Its not a must have however.

Presentation

I think the game looks very nice. It has a comic/cartoon feel about it but still looks good. There are nice animations for the zombies and the various traps. You also have sound effects for all the traps and when they take effect. You have some cheerful music playing too which keeps the mood happier and i like that. I wouldn't want this getting too serious.

Cons

These aren't cons, they are more improvements or additions. I think more than one map/area would be cool. It would add some variety to your games. Also maybe more traps added and with the option of placing which traps you want, where you want. That would be cool as you could set it up the way you want.

Final Word

This is a very fun game. If you like castle defence you'll like. If you sick of castle defence and want something different you'll like it. And if you never heard of castle defence before............YOU'LL LIKE IT.
